Gee Brown's 1966 Supercharged Mustang

Building classic cars for some is not just a hobby, but an obsession. When something becomes an obsession it’s all you can think about, and you become part of that obsession. Gee Brown’s first car was a ’66 Mustang coupe. As life would have it, things happened, and the car went away.

Fast forward to years later and he picked up another ’66 Mustang coupe to build up. He wanted an all-out track car with racing seats and the whole nine-yards. Before the car really got going, it was lost to a fire and burnt to the ground.

Gee’s obsession with ’66 Mustang coupes took over and he took the little bit of insurance money he got and bought the ’66 Mustang coupe you see here, albeit not in this condition. The only parts he was able to save from the fire-scorched ‘Stang was its heart – the engine under the hood.

Third Time's A Charm

After rebuilding the engine, he went to work on building this new, third ’66 Mustang Coupe. Remember when we said he was obsessed? He went from a junkyard ride to this bad ass ride in less than two years. That’s not a casual hobby, that’s an obsession to see his vision come to fruition. Minus the paint and some fabrication, Gee completed the build all by himself.

The engine under the hood is a 347 cubic-inch stroker from a 1990 Mustang built by Ben Alemeda. Getting that racing itch Gee went ahead and put a Vortech V3 Supercharger on it along with a Holley Terminator X ECU. The combo made a very healthy 647 RWHP on the dyno while a Champion Cooling radiator keeps it from overheating.

Expelling fumes is a set of long tube headers going into a 3” X-Pipe exhaust with a pair of X-Force Varex Mufflers which were installed by Jesse at Fastlane Performance. Backing the powerhouse is a built T5 transmission with a Hurst shifter from 505 Speeds which sends the power to the wheels courtesy of a 8.8 rearend from a Fox Body with 3.55 gears.

Suspension duties at all four corners are handled by CPP with coil overs in the front and leaf springs in the rear. Slowing down all those ponies is done with a set of 14” brakes from a 2018 Mustang GT and the rear brake set up is from an SN95 Mustang.

Surrounding the brakes is a set of 20x9 and 20x10.5” Intro wheels from Audio City USA. Wrapping the big wheels is a set of 225/30/20 tires in the front and 295/25/20 tires in the rear.

On the outside there’s a Maier Racing fiberglass hood and fiberglass trunk lid to lighten things up. The entire car is painted in Stealth Gray which is from a Ford Focus RS.

On The Inside

On the inside is a complete TMI interior stitched in a factory red that pops against the red outside. The seats are a set of Pro-Series Deluxe with Ponies. These seats look factory but they can recline, offer increased bolstering, and a more modern feel. Gee added a TMI Sport console between them as well while the rest of the interior was done with TMI’s factory offerings. The cherry on top is the TMI Sport Trunk Kit in matching upholstery.

Adorning the dash is a set of Classic Instrument gauges from CJ Pony Parts. A complete Classic Auto Air keeps Gee cool on those hot summer days and warm during the winters. Tunes are provided by a Sony AX8000 head unit that pushes music to two 6.5” and two 6x9” Infinity Kappa speakers along with a 10” subwoofer.

For Gee, he didn’t take no for an answer. When his dream literally went up in flames he became obsessed and continued until he finally hit the road and enjoyed the fruits of his labor.

Gee wants to thank Audio City USA, 505 Speeds, 5.0 Enterprise Foxbody, and Fast Lane Performance.
