The 1969 Ford F100 was built with one thing in mind, work. They were a utility vehicle meant to haul heavy loads, tow whatever you could imagine, and to get the job done. The designers never thought of this truck as something that could go around a corner with any sort of speed and definitely couldn’t dream of it having 1,000HP.
Enter Jason Scudellari of Huntington Beach, CA. He started working on this bumpside back in 2018 when he was managing the tech center for MotorTrend Group. During that role he’d built several wicked C10’s and wanted to build his own truck. But with the price of the C10’s going through the roof, he looked at F100’s as they were a more affordable platform.
Jason states that he wanted “lots of horsepower with a Pro-Touring style.” He found this 1969 F100 with a straight, rust-free body and got to work. He quickly started by taking the entire truck apart then painting everything himself in a make-shift paint booth. The paint is a custom mix of Summit Racing blue and white.
In order to get the right stance and handling, Jason picked up a Fat Man Fabrication chassis that comes with a more modern Mustang II front end and 9-inch rear. Paired up with the suspension is a set of CPP Corvette style spindles that allowed him to bolt on a set of massive 14-inch six-piston Wilwood brakes at all four corners. Wrapping those is a set of Schott Wheels in 315/30/R18 Falken tires all the way around.
With the handling finished, Jason focused on power. Even though this is a Ford, he still went the LS route and not Coyote power. He slapped a big ProCharger onto a built LS3 that supplies him with 1,000WHP! Backing the powerplant is a 6-Speed Tremec T-56 transmission.
On the inside Jason chose TMI for a custom look, right out of the box. To start a Sport Dash pad adorns the dash that’s fitted with a Holley 12.3-inch digital dash. A pair of Pro-Series Universal Sport-R1000 seats look right at home and keep him in place while a pair of matching Sport door panels finishes off the look. Lastly a Pro-Series console ties the entire interior together and provides comfort and storage.
