"Do you hear that? That's 450 horsepower of AWESOME coming at you because the K5 Blazer is done!" Rutledge Wood's latest build, a 1972 K5 Blazer is finished and he is excited!
You might know Rutledge Wood from a host of different TV shows. He was on Top Gear, a NASCAR TV Host, and even has his own Netflix show, The Floor Is Lava. At the end of the day though, Rut is a huge gearhead and love any and all makes and models.
One thing that's unique about Rut's build is it's not a crazy high-end show vehicle. While it has all the right parts in it, it's still a daily driver for cruising around with his family in it.
In fact, Rut didn't even repaint it. He wanted that patina look and even faked it in a few areas. If somebody accidentally rubs up against it, or maybe he wants to take it off road, no sweat.
Everything has been gone through and upgraded as you'd expect. With this family in mind he wanted something reliable, comfortable, and most importantly safe. That meant all new suspension and disc brakes, along with a modern LS motor.
On The Inside Rut reached out to TMI to help bring the interior's performance up but still have that old school factor to it. What we did was stitch up a set of our Universal Pro-Classic bucket seats in our Y-509 Distressed Brown Vinvyl. But to give it that old-school feel, we used our Y-3415 blue plaid inserts. Then we added a white contrast stitch to make it all pop.
To finish off the rest of the interior we stitched up a matching rear seat cover, front molded door panels, rear quarter panels, Sport console, dash pad, and even sun visors! Everything is matched for a cohesive look that suits Rut's style.
